We know that, given the choice, most people would prefer to own their home – giving them a tangible stake in society and a feeling of being rooted in their community.
As mortgage lenders and brokers, you know better than most the importance of these aspirations for a buoyant housing industry.
Having a new generation of ready and raring first-time buyers is key for growth in every aspect of the market and the businesses who rely on it – from developers to decorators.
The latest figures show the progress being made: more than 250,000 much-needed new homes were completed last year – the largest number in more than 30 years – and the home ownership rate has increased following a period of decline.
